FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (FNL) 3v3
This in-house program had to be postponed from Fall 2020 to early February 2021 due to COVID 19. The recreational program is for boys and girls ages 4-14 and high school girls and teaches skills during two days of practice during the week. Friday nights the kids get to show their skills in 3v3 games.
During the 2019 program we had 55 participants. In 2021, to our surprise, we increased participation to 165 players, 29 teams in 6 different age divisions.
Each week the Immokalee Sports Complex fields filled up to capacity with parents, grandparents, family members and friends. More than 400 people came to watch the kids play every Friday Night!
This program was so successful that we have decided to continue to offer it for the Winter months instead of the Fall.
Look for FNL during the Winter of 2022.
RECREATIONAL TRAVEL TEAMS UPDATE
U14 Girls
Our U14 Girls program is making progress. They are committed to the hard work needed to improve the team. In 2020 this team played in the Lee County Soccer League. Most of the girls continued to play in the FNL 3v3 this Winter and are now playing in 3v3 tournaments around the state. These experiences are providing a higher level of confidence and have improved their skill level.
We are looking forward to a more competitive program this Fall.
U10 Boys
This was a new group of boys playing at the recreational level this year. Most of the kids were inexperienced but that did not stop them from playing hard and never giving up. Coach Preciado always kept the fun before the number of goals or a win. He finished each game yelling out “Did we have fun today?”.
For this age group we want the kids to play for the fun of the game, not for win and loses. We saw a big difference in their confidence and skill level from the beginning, in September, to late November, when the program ended.
We are looking for more players with birth years 2011-2012 for next season.
COMPETITIVE PROGRAM UPDATE
U14 Boys
Our U14 Boys played in the South Miami League (SFUYSA ) Division 2 of the U14 age group.
This past season (August – November 2020) was hard to keep the schedule flowing on a consistent basis due to COVID 19. Many areas of the east coast had closed their fields and playing the regular schedule was difficult. Sometimes there were weeks between games. The team managed to come in first place at the end of the schedule with only one tie on their record.
This past Winter the team registered to compete in the State Presidents Cup Competition and did extremely well. They missed getting into the Florida Final Four by just goal differential to the team who ended winning the state.
The South Miami League hosted their League Championships (Fall and Spring Leagues together) and after three weeks of competition our boys were crowned League Champions in May with a 2-1 victory over Weston FC.
We are very proud of these boys, their coaching staff, and all the parents that supported them throughout the year.
We are looking for bigger things in 2021-22!
U19 Boys
This team also played in the South Miami League (SFUYSA). Again, like the U14 group the schedule was sporadic due to COVID 19 but the team achieved 2nd place with only one defeat during the season. The League Championship was not held for this age group.
This same group of boys were also part of the Immokalee High School varsity team. After the high school season the team was registered to play in the State Presidents Cup. The boys swept the first round going undefeated, but one bad loss in the second round, just like the U14 boys, kept the team from reaching the Florida Finals due to a two-goal differential.
We will be back next year determined to reach the Finals.
U17 Boys
This is a very talented group of players put together specifically to play tournaments. It was comprised of 2004-2005 players from our Soccer Pit U19 team that played in the Fall. We invited additional players from LaBelle and Bonita Spring to join the group.
The players got used to each other’s playing style and became a team very quickly. In two tournaments in May, The Naples Spring Shootout in early May and the Memorial Day Shootout these boys were crowned Champions twice with an undefeated record at both events.
A big thank you to Ramon Aguilar from LaBelle, and Coach Kenan from Bonita Springs for bringing the boys and supporting the team. We hope to bring these boys back next year as a U18 Tournament team.
